I was prepared to post something about my third opera this weekend being all “hair of the dog” and everything cheeky but I simply can’t make light of the power punch @heartbeat_opera gave me today with #fidelio. From the setting deep in the dungeons of Baruch college to the remarkable adaptation and stellar performances (follow their link for deets) I am moved beyond words. Part of this production featured recordings from several prison choirs. Cast & inmates exchanged letters during the rehearsal period. One is posted here for you to read. Opera can change lives. Mine was changed today.
